Welcome to the Ahead for Business webinar series designed to help small business owners with their mental health and wellbeing. This webinar series consists of four episodes that will provide you with an overview of mental health within a small business setting and some steps you can take to improve your mental health and wellbeing. Each episode is approximately 20 minutes long, so you won’t need to set aside much time.

You can download the takeaway sheets for each episode below. These involve a few short activities that will help you apply what you have learned in the webinar to your unique circumstances. The takeaway sheets are optional; feel free to watch the webinars without them.

Episode one: Mental health and your business

This episode provides some introductory information on mental health in the small business context. You will learn about the signs and symptoms of mental health concerns to look out for, how risk and protective factors impact your mental health, and information on some helpful resources to utilise.

Episode two: How to talk about mental health in your business

Webinar two focuses on how to talk about mental health in a safe and helpful way in your business. You will learn about the impact of stigma, common myths and stereotypes, and the steps you can take to talk to someone you are concerned about.

Episode three: Looking after yourself

This episode covers self-care, mainly what it is, the importance of it, and what you can do to plan for it. You will also learn about the effects of stress on your wellbeing, and what you can do to build resilience and better manage your everyday stressors. This episode is reminder that you are the most important part of your business, and should be looking after your mental health and wellbeing.

Episode four: Wellbeing in the workplace

The final episode looks at how you can create a mentally healthy workplace to support yourself and your employees. It covers the basics of what a mentally healthy workplace is, and four steps you can follow to help create one. This episode also includes a short case study of how a sole trader improved their mental health and wellbeing at work.
